Game Ideas: Un-poppable Bubbles
Directions: Kids will get a kick out of "Gazillion Bubbles," which you can find at Target or Wal-Mart. These bubbles do not pop for a long time and come in many great colors. Kids expect bubbles to pop as soon as they touch them, but these won't.
“Vanish Into Thin Air”
(Explain to the children that only Jesus could perform miracles, and this is just a fun trick.
Emphasize that this is not magic, it is just a trick that you learned how to do.)
Materials:
- Deck of playing cards
- Handkerchief with a hem
- Toothpick
- Scissors
Preparation:
- Take a toothpick and match it up against the end of one of the cards.
- Take the scissors and cut the toothpick so it's the same as the width of the card.
- Poke it into the hem of the handkerchief. Make sure it won't fall out.
How to Do the Trick:
- Take the deck of cards and spread them out in a pile on the table in front of the class.
- Bring out your handkerchief and say, "I will make a card disappear, right before your very eyes."
- Place the handkerchief on top of the pile of cards, with the part with the toothpick underneath the rest of the handkerchief. Look casual as you do this.
- With one hand, pick up the toothpick between your thumb and forefinger and raise it up from the pile of cards. It will look like you are holding the edge of one of the cards.
- Say, "Viola! It is gone!" as you wave the handkerchief in the air, showing there's no card inside.
Snack Ideas:
A good snack idea for this lesson would be Fruit Roll-Ups that leave tattoos on your tongue. Or try this fun idea -
